Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted April 24, 2022 Journalists Share Posted April 24, 2022 What Flemington ANZAC Day Races Where Flemington Racecourse – 448 Epsom Rd, Flemington, VIC 3031 When Monday, April 25, 2022 First Race 1pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes Flemington Racecourse is set to host their annual ANZAC Day meeting on Monday afternoon where the 166th running of the VRC St Leger is the feature event of the day. The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail in true position and Horsebetting’s Victorian form expert is confident in steering you into a few winners. The first of eight races is set to jump at 1pm AEST. VRC St Leger Top Tip – Fearentless The Listed VRC St Leger is one of the most time-honoured events in horse racing and we’re hoping the Paul Preusker-trained Fearentless can land a knockout blow in the 2022 edition. There is no doubting the class of the $1.95 favourite Alegron, but the fact that runner has won once from 12 starts, suggests there may be value elsewhere. Step in Fearentless. The three-year-old filly looks to be a stayer on the rise and with better luck in the Galilee Series Final last time out, she had every right to finish closer than what her 1.75 length defeat suggests. She draws to do no work from barrier one on Monday and if she can gain an opening early in the home straight, we’re happy to be with her at the double figure price with online betting sites. VRC St Leger Race 7 – #13 Fearentless (1) 3yo Filly | T: Paul Preusker | J: Jordan Childs (56kg) $13 with Unibet Best Bet at Flemington – Cherry Tortoni Cherry Tortoni brought up a deserving win in the Golden Mile last time out and a similar effort on Monday should see him prove too good for this field in the opening leg of the quaddie. The Patrick Payne-trained four-year-old has always been blessed with a strong finishing burst, but regularly finds himself settled too far back to prove to be a winning threat. He’ll need a genuine tempo throughout, but with The Regiment and Don’t Doubt Dory notable frontrunners, we should see a genuinely run 1700m event. Cherry Tortoni has the best turn of foot in the race and with even luck should be the one finishing the best down the centre of the track. We’re happy to take the $2.90 on offer from Bet365. Best Bet Race 5 – #1 Cherry Tortoni (7) 4yo Gelding | T: Patrick Payne | J: Michael Dee (59kg) $2.90 with Bet365 Next Best at Flemington – Rousseau We will be looking to build a bank early on ANZAC Day when the Chris Waller-trained Rousseau steps out over 2600m. Having brought up a third win in four starts at Mornington on March 26, the four-year-old gelding clearly looks the one to beat in the opener on Monday. He drops 5kg from that last start win and with just 53kg on his back simply looks far too well-weighted in a race like this. Last time out he managed to lead the field up throughout showing his versatility, considering he is usually a get back and run on type of horse. Look for Craig Williams to have him settled with cover this time around and armed with a strong turn of foot, Rousseau should prove too hard to hold out. Next Best Race 1 – #2 Rousseau (5) 4yo Gelding | T: Chris Waller | J: Craig Williams (53kg) $2.25 with PlayUp Best Value at Flemington – Colsridge On the back of an emotional win at Bendigo, the Arthur Pace-trained Colsridge will be looking to bring up consecutive wins for the first time in his career. Despite all three career wins coming when first-up from a spell, he looks to have returned in better form than ever and we’re hoping a second-up win arrives on Monday. He will be one of the backmarkers in the 1200m event, but if Harry Coffey can produce him like he did at Bendigo, Colsridge’s turn of foot should prove too strong for a field like this. We’re happy to load into the $18 with Palmerbet. Best Value Race 8 – #4 Colsridge (12) 5yo Gelding | T: Arthur Pace | J: Harry Coffey (59kg) $18 with Palmerbet ANZAC Day quaddie tips for Flemington Flemington quadrella selections Monday, April 25, 2022 1-5 1-4-9-11 1-2-3-13 2-4-11-12-13 Investment: $160 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
