Cranbourne gets its chance to showcase Friday night races with eight events up for grabs on a Soft 5 surface. Hopefully punters still have a little bit to play with after the Warrnambool May Racing Carnival and can get a collect before the weekend.

We will try and help out with providing our best bets and value picks. For quaddie punters, we will provide some quaddie tips with the first leg kicking off at 7:45pm.

The two-year-old fillies start the races off over 1200m in a race where five of the nine runners are first starters. Volander for Matt Laurie has raced and placed and will be the likely favourite. He has a good barrier in two and will likely roll forward for punters.

BEST BET: No Envy (Race 5)

No Envy gets the nod over the 2600m distance for the stayers. For Anthony & Sam Freedman and with Damien Thornton on top, this guy has good credentials after winning first up paying a short quote. That win was a tough Geelong win (four lengths) over a similar distance and the extra 150m shouldn’t be an issue. The win might have taken a little bit out of him but he has been freshened since (five weeks) and has placed on soft ground before so that shouldn’t be a problem either. State Squad has run two seconds in a row and will start the likely favourite.

Best Bet

Race 5 – No Envy #2 No Envy (4)

4yo Gelding | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Damien Thornton (60kg)

$4.50 with Neds

NEXT BEST: Nice For What (Race 2)

Maher & Eustace – tick. Jye McNiel – tick. Barrier two – tick. This filly is first up from a spell and has placed on soft ground which is another bonus. She has been mixing her form but we liked her second at Ballarat on November 1 over the 1000m. She should use barrier two to advantage and settle on pace and back to 1000m from 1200m is a lot better we think. She won a jumpout last week and we think she will be raring to go.

Next Best

Race 2 – Nice For What #9 Nice For What (2)

3yo Filly | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Jye McNeil (56kg)

$2.50 with Bet365

VALUE BET: Get On The Gas (Race 8)

This gelding trained by Lloyd Kennewell is back from a freshen up after an improved effort (third) at Flemington last time. On that occasion, he kept plugging away to the line and only got defeated 1.7 lengths in the end. His jumpout was quite good last week when second at this track so knowing the track might suit him in this event. He has placed on soft surface (third) and will be a good each-way play in what is a tricky race to finish off the program.

Best Value

Race 8 – Get On The Gas #9 Get On The Gas (4)

3yo Gelding | T: Lloyd Kennewell | J: Jordan Childs (59kg)

$5.50 with Ladbrokes
