Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 5, 2022 Journalists Share Posted May 5, 2022 What The Coast Race Day 2022 Where The Entertainment Grounds – 4 Racecourse Rd, West Gosford NSW 2250 When Saturday, May 7, 2022 First Race 11:15am AEST Visit Ladbrokes New South Wales metropolitan racing heads to Gosford on Saturday for the running of The Coast (1600m). HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst presents his best bets and quaddie tips for the afternoon, as well as his on top pick in all three feature races. The track is rated a Heavy 8 and the rail is in the true position for the entire course. The meeting will get underway at 11:15am AEST with the running of a 2YO Handicap over 1200m. Gosford Gold Cub Best Bet – Numerian We are putting Numerian on top on the basis that if he is here, that’s who we want to be with. We say that because he has also accepted in the Wagga Gold Cup on Friday afternoon, so there is some uncertainty on where he will actually start. The Annabel Neasham-trained galloper was good in the Doncaster Handicap two starts ago before bumping into a flying Polly Grey in the JRA Plate (2000m) on April 16 at Randwick. The son of Holy Roman Emperor should be rock-hard fit now and goes up ever so slightly in trip to 2080m which should suit. Sam Clipperton will look to have the six-year-old in a forward position from barrier six, so we should see class take this galloper a long way. Gosford Gold Cup Best Bet Race 7 – #1 Numerian (6) 6yo Gelding | T: Annabel Neasham | J: Sam Clipperton (59.5 kg) $6.50 with PlayUp Takeover Target Best Bet – Oscar Zulu Oscar Zulu comes into the Listed Takeover Target fresh off a three-month break after running a narrow second to Scallopini in the Listed Sunshine Coast Cup (1400m) at the end of January. The Chris Waller-trained four-year-old has a brilliant first-up record, winning three of his four fresh runs, so that gives him a lot of merit for this. The son of Epaulette is going to get the ideal run in transit from barrier six under Jason Collett, while the horse comes into the race off a nice trial win at Rosehill on April 29. The Scallopini form jumps off the page after his brilliant run in last Saturday’s Victory Stakes at Eagle Farm. Takeover Target Best Bet Race 8 – #5 Oscar Zulu (6) 4yo Gelding | T: Chris Waller | J: Jason Collett (55.5kg) $7 with Bet365 The Coast Best Bet – Our Playboy The feature race of the afternoon at Gosford is The Coast, which will be run for $500,000 over 1600m. Our Playboy looks the obvious here, coming off a dominant victory at Randwick on April 16 in a Benchmark 100, defeating Art Cadeau and Huetor by 1.5 lengths. Prior to that, the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained four-year-old was narrowly beaten by Mr Mozart in the Doncaster Prelude at Newcastle, and that runner won the Hawkesbury Guineas last Saturday. From barrier five, Tim Clark will have the son of Sebring in a brilliant spot, ensuring the gelding gets an economical run to offset the 60kg. The Coast Best Bet Race 9 – #1 Our Playboy (5) 4yo Gelding | T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr | J: Tim Clark (60kg) $5 with Ladbrokes Best Bet at Gosford – Resonator We are going to the opening event on the program for our best bet in the form of two-year-old Resonator. The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained galloper resumed as a gelding on April 20 with a dominant all-the-way win at Canterbury on a Heavy 9 over 1200m. The son of Brazen Beau looked very classy that day, controlling terms from in front, before putting his rivals to the sword up the straight. He gets every chance to repeat that on Saturday, with Tim Clark once again booked. Drawn perfectly in barrier three, Resonator will be on the bunny from the get go and shouldn’t give anything else a chance around the tight Gosford track. Best Bet Race 1 – #4 Resonator (3) 2yo Gelding | T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott | J: Tim Clark (58kg) $3.20 with Neds Next Best at Gosford – Battleton We liked the chances of Battleton in Saturday’s Gold Coast Guineas, but connections opted to scratch from the Gold Coast and stay in Sydney for this winnable Benchmark 78 Handicap. The Bjorn Baker-trained three-year-old has an imposing record, winning two of his four career starts and placing second on another occasion. The only time the son of Zoustar has been out of the money was at his most recent appearance when fifth to Home Affairs in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m). After two very nice trials in New South Wales, Battleton looks poised to add another win to his name under Jason Collett who already has a great affiliation with the horse. Next Best Race 10 – #8 Battleton (9) 3yo Gelding | T: Bjorn Baker | J: Jason Collett (58.5kg) $2.80 with Palmerbet Saturday quaddie tips for Gosford Gosford quadrella selections Saturday, May 7, 2022 1-2-10 3-4-5-6 1-4-5-11 1-5-8 Investment: $144 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
