A nine-race program has been assembled for Saturday’s metropolitan meeting in Western Australia, with Ascot Racecourse set to host the meeting. HorseBetting’s WA racing analyst presents you with his best bets, value bet and quaddie numbers for the Ascot meeting. The track is rated a Good 4 as of Friday morning, while the rail is out 12m for the entire course. The first race is scheduled to be run and won at 12:14pm AWST. Here are our free Ascot best bet tips for Saturday, May 7, 2022.

Best Bet at Ascot – It’sarayday

On an afternoon with no blacktype racing, we go to a Rating 72+ Handicap to see the best horse in action. That is the Simon Miller-trained It’sarayday, as his odds-on quote suggests. The three-year-old son of Winning Rupert has had five starts in his career for three wins and a second, while the only time he missed out on a top three finish was in his last start of last preparation when fourth in the Group 2 Western Australian Guineas. He won the Listed Fairetha Stakes at the start prior over 1400m at this track, while at only his second ever start at the races, he won over this distance (1100m) by nearly three lengths. He oozes class and should be able to win again on Saturday afternoon.

Next Best at Ascot – Aragain

Chris Parnham and Brian Kersley combine in the eighth with consistent mare Aragain. The five-year-old daughter of Niagara has won four of her 34 starts, while she has also placed on a further 10 occasions. Although never having won at Ascot in 15 attempts, she is rarely far away with five minor placings. Chris Parnham goes on board from barrier four, so she will be up on the speed and give this race a sight. Now third-up, if Aragain brings her best, she can give this a shake.

Next Best

Race 8 – Aragain Silk #5 Aragain (4)

5yo Mare | T: Brian Kersley | J: Chris Parnham (57.5kg)

Best Value at Ascot – Worth A Risk

Steve Wolfe and Shaun McGruddy combine in the opening leg of the quaddie with six-year-old mare Worth A Risk. The daughter of Written Tycoon rarely runs a bad race, finishing in the top four in her past four outings, including a comfortable win at Mt Barker two starts back. In her most recent run, Worth A Risk finished third over 1400m at this track on March 13, just two lengths off Comes A Time. From out in barrier 10, McGruddy might use that as a bit of an advantage and get this mare to the front in what will be her first run for two months. She looks to be a touch over the odds with AU horse racing betting sites.
