The Mudgee Race Club will play host to seven races on Sunday afternoon, with the Gooree Cup (1400m) attracting some very handy racehorses. HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst presents you with his best bets, value bet and quaddie number for the meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 1:00pm sharp. The track is rated a Heavy 10 and the rail is in the true position for the entire course.

Gooree Cup Best Bet – Saint Of Katowice

In Sunday’s feature, we are pretty confident that the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Saint Of Katowice can return to winning form and lead all of the way to score. The five-year-old son of Elzaam was a dominant winner two starts ago at Sandown when leading throughout to win by 2.75 lengths under the big weight of 62kg, before he had his heart broken by the very promising Hosier. He gets in the Gooree Cup with 59.5kg on his back and has to overcome barrier 17, but we don’t mind the wide alley as Ashley Morgan let the gelding cross the field and lead on his ear. There’s a reason that he is the race favourite with online bookmakers.

Best Bet at Mudgee – Eva Daniela

Every dog has their day, so Kris Lees and connections will be hoping that Sunday is the day for Eva Daniela. The three-year-old filly has been the bridesmaid in all three starts this preparation, falling short at Newcastle and twice at Port Macquarie. The daughter of I Am Invincible has handle wet tracks in her past few starts, so the Heavy 10 shouldn’t be an issue as she is now fourth-up and rock-hard fit. From barrier four, young gun apprentice Dylan Gibbons will make sure she is in a perfect position in the first half of the field, before presenting her in the straight to set out after the leaders. She can breakthrough on Sunday.

Best Bet

Race 4 – Eva Daniela Silk #2 Eva Daniela (4)

3yo Filly | T: Kris Lees | J: Dylan Gibbons (58.5kg)

$4.20 with Neds

Best Value at Mudgee – Costa Chin Chin

Rob Potter and Jackson Searle combine in the staying contest of the afternoon with seven-year-old gelding Costa Chin Chin. The son of Von Costa de Hero is lining up in his 40th career start on Sunday in search of a fourth career win at a track he has never raced at. He does have a terrific finish on him, so a decent tempo is going to suit this old timer. Although we haven’t seen his best for a little while now, with his last win coming 39 weeks ago, but he finds a very weak Benchmark 58 and he gets out to 2000m for the first time in a long time which should suit. Certainly not the worst.

Best Value

Race 2 – Costa Chin Chin Silk #4 Costa Chin Chin (6)

7yo Gelding | T: Rob Potter | J: Jackson Searle (a1.5)(56.5kg)

$11 with Palmerbet
