SECRET OATH (f, 3, Arrogate–Absinthe Minded, by Quiet American) saved ground off a strong pace, tipped out wide and came flying to provide legendary trainer D. Wayne Lukas with a record-tying fifth GI Kentucky Oaks, and first since 1990. Favorite Nest (Curlin) checked in several lengths back in second, while Desert Dawn (Cupid) spiced up the trifecta. The winner stopped the clock in 1:49.44. Secret Oath's score came on the same day Lukas was forced to scratch GI Kentucky Derby longshot Ethereal Road (Quality Road). A dominant winner of Oaklawn's Jan. 29 Martha Washington S. and Feb. 26 GIII Honeybee S., Secret Oath was last seen finishing third in the GI Arkansas Derby Apr. 2. O-Briland Farm. B-Briland Farm, Robert Mitchell & Stacy Mitchell (Ky). T. D. Wayne Lukas.
