Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 7, 2022 Journalists Posted May 7, 2022 J. Kirk and Judy Robison's JACKIE'S WARRIOR (c, 4, Maclean's Music–Unicorn Girl, by A. P. Five Hundred) looked like a winner every step of the way in Saturday's GI Churchill Downs S., doling out splits of :22.76 and :45.50 while kept well off the fence and cantering home in the lane to make even-money look like a gift. Reinvestment Risk (Upstart) reported home second, some 3 1/2 lengths behind the winner and just ahead of 2021 GI Breeders' Cup Sprint hero Aloha West (Hard Spun), who had to work a little harder earlier than he like would have preferred to stay within range. Jackie's Warrior, last year's champion sprinter and a winner of the GII Pat Day Mile on this card 12 months ago, stopped the clock in 1:21.95. After exiting a sixth-place run in the Breeders' Cup Sprint with a bone chip, he returned a narrow winner of the GIII Count Fleet H. over a sloppy Oaklawn track Apr. 16. Sales history: $95,000 ylg '19 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: Ch. Sprinter, 14-10-1-1. O-J. Kirk & Judy Robison. B-J & J Stables (Ky). T-Steven M. Asmussen.
