Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 19, 2022 Journalists Share Posted May 19, 2022 What Flemington Races Where Flemington Racecourse – 448 Epsom Rd, Flemington VIC 3031 When Saturday, May 21, 2022 First Race 11:50am AEST Visit Ladbrokes For a second week in succession, Flemington Racecourse is scheduled to host a nine-race card as the metropolitan meeting in Victoria for the weekend. HorseBetting’s Victorian form expert has run his eye over the card and come up with some betting tips, including a top pick in the Listed Straight Six. The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail coming out to the 6m mark for the entire circuit. The first race is set to jump at 11:50am AEST. The Straight Six Top Tip – Front Page The Geoff Duryea-trained Front Page absolutely smacked his rivals in the Wagga Town Plate on May 5 and gets his chance to show his qualities down the Flemington straight once again. The five-year-old gelding already has a win to his name at the track and trip, and considering how easily he won when first-up, we expect he will only get better with the run under his belt. The 1200m is clearly his preferred trip, with all five of his wins coming at that distance. He looks to be the natural leader and should have it his own way out in front, so he will take some catching. The $3.40 with online betting sites looks a treat. The Straight Six Race 7 – #9 Front Page (9) 5yo Gelding | T: Geoff Duryea | J: Lewis German (55.5kg) $3.40 with Bet365 Best Bet at Flemington – Tuvalu We labelled the Lindsey Smith-trained Tuvalu as “the bet of the carnival” during the ‘Bool and he duly rewarded us with a comfortable victory on the last day. The four-year-old gelding boasts a career record of 8:5-3-0 and looks to have too much upside for some of his rivals in this. With So Si Bon, Cherry Tortoni and Junipal all expected to go around at Morphettville on Saturday, the field dramatically drops in quality and Tuvalu looks a class above the rest. He will settle up on speed having jumped from barrier nine and, with Jarrod Fry sticking on board, will be given every chance throughout. Needing to lug just 53kg is a massive help, and with $2.70 on offer from Unibet, Tuvalu looks a clear best bet of the day at Flemington. Best Bet Race 8 – #13 Tuvalu (9) 4yo Gelding | T: Lindsey Smith | J: Jarrod Fry (53kg) $2.70 with Unibet Next Best at Flemington – Defining The Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Defining was the best of the beaten brigade behind Illation in the HC Nitschke Stakes and is sure to appreciate the drop back to BM78 grade against her own sex. She put together two dominant wins prior to that effort at Morphettville and should enjoy the broad expanses that Flemington offers. She is a get-back-and-run-on type, and with Matt Cartwright on board claiming 1.5kg, she goes around with only 56kg on her back. Toregene is sure to make this a strongly run 1400m event, and with a barnstorming finishing burst, Defining is going to take a power of beating. Next Best Race 4 – #4 Defining (14) 3yo Filly | T: Tony & Calvin McEvoy | J: Matt Cartwright (a1.5) (57.5kg) $3.60 with Palmerbet Best Value at Flemington – Queen Takes King We will be looking to make our mark early with the bagmen on Saturday when the Lindsey Smith-trained Queen Takes King steps out in the opener. Despite finishing fourth – some 8.75 lengths off eventual winner Witchachar Star – in the Warrnambool Cup, the five-year-old mare ran just over a length behind Constantinople in third. That was her first run in Victoria since coming over from Perth, and stepping off that bottomless Heavy 10 at Warrnambool and onto the Good 4 at Flemington is only going to benefit her winning chances. We expect Declan Bates will have her settled in the second half of the field, and if Kaituku can make this a strongly run 2500m event, it sets the race up for Queen Takes King to finish right over the top of her rivals. Best Value Race 1 – #2 Queen Takes King (9) 5yo Mare | T: Lindsey Smith | J: Declan Bates (57kg) $12 with Neds Saturday quaddie tips for Flemington Flemington quadrella selections Saturday, May 21, 2022 4-7-10-14-18 9-10-12 13 4-11-12-18 Investment: $60 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
