Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted May 20, 2022 Journalists Share Posted May 20, 2022 Swats That will join the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace stable following sale of majority share.Malua Lodge’s Leon & Troy Corstens have on Friday announced that quality mare Swats That has been sold and subsequently transferred out of their stables, with the four-year-old set to join the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace barn. The daughter of Shamus Award has won three of her 16 starts, banking almost $1.3 million in prizemoney thanks to placings in three Group 1 sprints. She won back-to-back Group 3 races as a three-year-old before having her streak ended by September Run in the 2020 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) when second, before returning in the summer months in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes (1000m) when third to Nature Strip in the $750,000 sprint. A stylish win from Swats That who notches back-to-back Group 3 wins, she’s classy. pic.twitter.com/bL905nn34K — Racing.com (@Racing) October 10, 2020 In her first two runs this autumn, Swats That ran fourth and fifth respectively in the Lightning Stakes and Newmarket Handicap (1200m), which put the writing on the wall for a potential tilt at Royal Ascot, but a plain showing in the VOBIS Gold Sprint (1200m) in late April all but put paid to those plans. “Yesterday a majority share was sold in our four-year-old mare SWATS THAT,” Malua Lodge said in a media release. “Firstly, I would like to commend my team who have done an amazing job with our girl. We are extremely sad to lose such a lovely kind mare, but we are proud to have shared the thrills of racing with a good ownership group that has created some lifelong friends. “In the beginning she was a nice little filly with an ok pedigree and a few confirmation issues. Our team built her into a $1.3M winning 4YO mare that has raced against the best sprinters in the world, performing admirably. “She will now continue her racing career with her new controlling shareholders and training duo Caron Maher and Dave Eustace. I am sure the boys will have some lofty plans for her moving forward. “We wish her new team all the best and hope they have as much fun with her as we did.” More horse racing news The post Change of stable for star mare Swats That appeared first on Horse Betting.
