She might not have lined up in The Goodwood, but trainer Mark Kavanagh’s conservative approach paid off when Seradess comfortably saluted in the $127,250 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville.

The three-year-old led early and blew away her competition when she was up by five lengths at the 100m mark.

She then cruised home to win by three lengths over Andrew Clarken’s runner-up I Am Bene.

“She was dominant. I was considering that (The Goodwood) but if she couldn’t win this today she couldn’t win The Goodwood,” Kavanagh told Racing.com.

“She was having her 10th start and we might come back and have a look at it next year.”

This victory from Craig Williams was even more dominant than their last start together, the two combining to triumph in the $202,250 Tobin Bronze Stakes (1200m) on May 7.

“She’s had (her past) two starts now at Group level for two wins, so she’s a really nice filly. You could see today that she really came on to go against the older mares today,” Williams said.

“She showed her authority in her victory today.”

Seradess will now set her sights on the Queensland Carnival, where Williams believes more success can come her way.

“She’ll go to Brisbane on Saturday where I’ll partner up with her,” he said.

“I’m really looking forward to be reunited with her, especially after this performance.

“And I guess the way that she performed last time gave us an indication that maybe she’ll get even further.

“So maybe there’s a bit more in store for her.”
