Before this Sunday’s Healesville Derby Final, G2 Shepparton Cup finalist Dynamic Prince faces consistent chasers Russian Sub and Distinguish in a Mixed 4/5 450m race at Ballarat tonight.

Basalt v Exalted highlights the four Restricted Win 450m heats of the Road to the Diamond, while Aston Suzette (won five from 11) and Elite Tommy (won last three) are also in action.

My Neo – victorious in three of his last five starts and 11 of 22 overall – and Decimate – triumphant in two of his last three starts and 14 of 30 overall – are the star attractions at Sale this evening.

At The Meadows this afternoon, G1 runner-up Fernando Mick v G1 finalist Bang and Plagiarise v Soda Success v G1 placegetter Here Comes Pie are great clashes, while G1 runner-up Aston Ulysses should dominate a Mixed 3/4 600m race.

The Watchdog says : ALICAH (1) has been luckless since her debut placing and she is drawn to make amends today. OZZIE PACK (3) has won three on the spin at Ballarat and he should be able to roll to the early lead. The last 50m is a concern, but he should be able to battle on for a top-three finish. XIMENA BALE (4) doesn’t win too often but she has a decent engine and is never too far away. There is limited pace drawn inside, so with a clean getaway, she should be able to cross initially and then hit the scoreboard.

The Watchdog says : FIRE HOSE (1) was huge through the Bendigo Gold Rush Maiden series, and he appears to be the real deal. He should step on terms and then drive to the lead after around 50m. PATRIOT EARHART (7) has been luckless in her past few runs; however, she drops back to a suitable journey, and she looks well drawn out wide. With an ounce of luck early, she can return to the winners list. ASTON SUZETTE (8) continues to impress, and she is expected to test the clock tonight.

The Watchdog says : Group 2 Shepparton Cup finalist DYNAMIC PRINCE (8) is a star chaser and he has turned in some tremendous performances of late. His box manners can be risky, but he is armed with a breathtaking turn of foot, and he will stay wide, so he should be able to whip around them and then dash away through the bend.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview :

The explosive DYNAMIC PRINCE (8) can be inconsistent at box rise, but he is blessed with a ridiculous turn of foot, and he likes to stay wide in his races. Last time out, he took care of a gun line-up in a heat of the Healesville Derby and with a clear run early, he could press the 25-second barrier. RUSSIAN SUB (1) is all class, and he has raced well here in the past. From the good draw, he should get enough room to balance up early and he can then dial up the pressure mid-race. DISTINGUISH (5) rounds out the ‘big three’ and if the favourite happens to make a mistake, he should be there to capitalise. He has turned in some brilliant performances since resuming and he can carve out time when in the clear. With a slow beginner drawn outside, he should get every chance to put himself into the mix.
