Tuesday’s eight-race provincial meeting in New South Wales has been transferred from a wet Kembla Grange to Hawkesbury this week. HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers for the program, which is scheduled to begin at 12pm AEST. The track is rated a Soft 7, while the rail is in the true position for the entire course.

Best Bet at Hawkesbury – Mystic Mermaid

We have been with Mystic Mermaid every start this preparation, and while she hasn’t broken her maiden status yet, she finds a suitable race on Tuesday. The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old filly is very well bred, but she just doesn’t seem to handle heavy tracks, which she has been dealt with in all three runs this time in. The daughter of Fastnet Rock will appreciate a drier track on Tuesday, while the drop back from metropolitan to provincial company should suit. William Pike replaces Tommy Berry, and the wide barrier should allow her to settle down in a comfortable position. We can bet with even more confidence if the track improves before the beginning of this meeting.

Best Bet

Race 3 – Silk #3 Mystic Mermaid (8)

3yo Filly | T: Chris Waller | J: William Pike (58.5kg)

$4 with Ladbrokes

Next Best at Hawkesbury – River Mac

River Mac was huge last start at Wagga, coming from last at the turn to dead-heat and share the spoils with subsequent Albury winner, Keep It Down. The Paul Murray-trained five-year-old won’t have to be last on Tuesday seen as though he has drawn the inside alley, while he also drops 5kg in weight down to 57kg. The son of All Too Hard has some good metropolitan form around Coal Crusher, which certainly looks good for this Benchmark 68 Handicap. Hopefully, the runs come for Brock Ryan and he can get the job done again. The $6 with online bookies seems fair.

Next Best

Race 7 – Silk #7 River Mac (1)

5yo Gelding | T: Paul Murray | J: Brock Ryan (57kg)

$6 with Neds

Best Value at Hawkesbury – Yankees

In the fourth race of the afternoon, Garry Frazer and Alysha Collett combine with an unraced two-year-old filly in Yankees. The daughter of American Pharoah has had the benefit of two nice trials at Hawkesbury and Gosford, where she has shown a bit of ability without winning them. We do like seeing two-year-olds tackle the older horses at this time of year as well, as they get in on the minimum weight but they are that bit older and that age gap is a bit less than what it was in January. From barrier eight, she should go forward under Collett and give this race a shake on debut. In her most recent trial, she led and was tackled late by Nomara, who was beaten by a pimple on debut on Saturday at Newcastle, so that trial form looks good.

Best Value

Race 4 – Silk #11 Yankees (8)

2yo Filly | T: Garry Frazer | J: Alysha Collett (55kg)

$10 with Palmerbet
