Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 3, 2022 Journalists Share Posted June 3, 2022 What Geelong Races Where Geelong Racecourse – 99 Breakwater Rd, Breakwater, VIC, 3219 When Sunday, June 5, 2022 First Race 12:20pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes The weekend of racing rounds out at Geelong Racecourse on Sunday afternoon where a competitive eight-race card is set down for judgement. Following consistent rain in the area, the Geelong track has come up a Heavy 9 and the rail is out 3m the entire circuit. If recent Geelong history shows anything in the rain-affected going, fanning out wide upon straightening tends to be the way to go, so we will be looking for runners off the pace with race fitness under their belt. The first race at Geelong is set to jump at 12:20pm AEST. Best Bet at Geelong – Sabre Princess Patience will be key on Sunday, as our Geelong best bet Sabre Princess from the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr yard steps out in the final race of the day. The four-year-old mare returned with a narrow runner-up effort behind Narrated at Ballarat on May 8. That effort was on a Heavy 8, so not only will she handle the conditions, but she will have taken great benefit from that first-up run off a six-month spell. From barrier six, look for Jye McNeil to have the Sebring mare settled midfield with cover and if she replicates her last start effort, she should prove too hard to hold out for this lot. The $4 with Unibet looks to be the wrong price and one we are happy to take on. Best Bet Race 8 – #11 Sabre Princess (6) 4yo Mare | T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr | J: Jye McNeil (57.5kg) $4 with Unibet Next Best at Geelong – Native Girl Following an unlucky first-up run at Pakenham when finishing second, the Charlotte Littlefield-trained Native Girl looks one of the better bets of the day. The three-year-old filly was held up for a run until the 200m mark when resuming, but once she found clear air, the Tivaci filly let down nicely to suggest she will take beating wherever she went to next. Having chased home subsequent VRC Oaks winner Willowy and Group quality Mokulua last campaign, she clearly brings the strongest form lines to this. Despite drawing barrier five, we expect to see Native Girl settled towards the rear of the field and armed with a strong turn of foot, we expect this filly will prove too hard to hold out. Take the $3.10 on offer with online bookmakers and run. Next Best Race 2 – #5 Native Girl (5) 3yo Filly | T: Charlotte Littlefield | J: Jye McNeil (57kg) $3.10 with Bet365 Best Value at Geelong – Miss Havana Cosmic In the opening leg of the quaddie, the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Miss Havana Cosmic looks perfectly placed to build off her last start maiden win at Kilmore. The five-year-old mare managed to overcome trouble in the race and rounded up her rivals in dominant fashion to suggest she was worth following at her next start. She heads to a Class 1 full of perennial non-winners and considering the Havana Gold mare has the most upside in the race, she is worth a play at the price on offer with online betting sites. Look for John Allen to have her positioned at the rear of the field upon settling and if she can replicate the same turn of foot she produced at Kilmore, then Miss Havana Cosmic will take a power of beating. The $10 on offer at online bookmakers looks to be good value. Best Value Race 5 – #6 Miss Havana Cosmic (9) 5yo Mare | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: John Allen (61kg) $10 with Palmerbet Sunday Quaddie Tips for Geelong Geelong quadrella selections Sunday, June 5, 2022 1-3-6-8 3-4-6-10 2-13 3-11 Investment: $64 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
