Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) veterinarians have on Friday afternoon announced that two fillies – Glint Of Hope and Le Villi – are required to pass further inspections ahead of Saturday’s Group 1 Queensland Oaks at Eagle Farm, following issues discovered on Friday.

Glint Of Hope, a $13 chance in the Oaks, is chasing back-to-back Group 1 victories, after proving too good in the Australasian Oaks on April 30 at Morphettville.

The Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained daughter of Deep Impact was found to have minor heel pain, which means she will have to be re-shod and reinspected by QRIC vets on Saturday morning if she is to take part in the $700,000 race.

Also needing to be passed fit on Saturday morning is the Kris Lees-trained Le Villi.

Currently an $18 hope with online bookmakers, the former New Zealand-based three-year-old was found to be short striding in front, with the vets yet to deem her fit to run.

Two fillies have already been scratched from the 2200m race, with the Clarry Conners-trained Mokulua coming out on Thursday evening, while Gary Portelli scratched Charity Spirit after the daughter of Cable Bay was allocated barrier 23 of 23.

The race is set to jump at 3:53pm AEST.
