Officials at Gulfstream Park announced the cancellation of Saturday's live racing program due to heavy rains associated with a potential tropical storm system that was lashing South Florida overnight and into the morning.

Approximately 6 1/2 inches of rain had been registered in Miami and in nearby Fort Lauderdale, causing flash floods and travel-related problems.

Ten Palms and suites were to be closed Saturday, while the adjacent Gulfstream Park Casino and Silks Simulcast were to remain open for its regularly scheduled hours.

Racing is set to return Sunday, June 5, with a nine-race program set to begin at 1:05 p.m. EDT.
