Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 10, 2018 Journalists Share Posted August 10, 2018 Charlie Appleby’s Jungle Cat (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}) has been a grand campaigner for Godolphin with the 6-year-old having his finest hour when winning the G1 Al Quoz Sprint on his last outing at Meydan in March. Next on the entire’s agenda is a trip to Australia where his first big target is the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke S. at Caulfield in late September. “He is going to head out to Australia in the first shipment of horses and will go into quarantine later this month,” Appleby said. “He will go for a race out there called the Sir Rupert Clarke. He is in good form and his preparation has gone well. The conditions of the race should suit him as it will be seven furlongs on quick ground.” Despite his group 1 win at Meydan over six furlongs Appleby is in favour of campaigning Jungle Cat over an extra furlong in Australia. “As he is getting older, seven furlongs is more his trip. I don’t think he would have the legs for those young Australian sprinters in the Everest. This has been the long-term plan for him. Dubai has been his big stage for the last couple of seasons and now he has booked his ticket to have a go out in Australia,” he added.
