Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 10, 2018 Journalists Share Posted August 10, 2018 Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen captured last year’s GII Saratoga Special S. with ‘TDN Rising Star’ Copper Bullet (More Than Ready) and he looks to capture this year with another ‘Rising Star’ son of that WinStar stallion in Sir Truebadour. An impressive debut winner in the slop at Churchill May 17, the dark bay checked in fourth in Belmont’s Tremont S. June 7 and returned to winning ways beneath the Twin Spires in the GIII Bashford Manor S. June 30. Asmussen also saddles another good-looking debut winner in Tight Ten (Tapit), who graduated by 4 1/2 lengths in Louisville June 28. Todd Pletcher also has a pair of chances Sunday in Meade (Street Sense) and Spinoff (Hard Spun). Meade graduated at first asking at Belmont July 7 and Spinoff donned cap and gown in his career bow at Gulfstream June 23. Owner Michael Dubb has been speaking quite highly of Call Paul (Friesan Fire) and the colt gets a chance to live up to the hype here following a decisive debut win at Delaware July 5.
