Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 9, 2022 Journalists Share Posted June 9, 2022 What Sandown Hillside Races Where Sandown Racecourse – 591-659 Princes Hwy, Springvale VIC 3171 When Saturday, June 11, 2022 First Race 11:50am AEST Visit Ladbrokes The Hillside track at Sandown is the destination for metropolitan racing in Victoria this weekend, and HorseBetting’s Victorian form expert is confident he can steer you into a few winners. With plenty of rain in the area in the lead up to Saturday, we are racing on a Heavy 9, whilst the rail comes out 8m for the entire circuit. The first race is set to go at 11:50am AEST, with the quaddie getting underway at 2:45pm. Best Bet at Sandown – Gate Crash Our best bet of the day comes up in the opening leg of the quaddie when the Patrick Payne-trained Gate Crash steps out over 2400m. The four-year-old gelding relished the Heavy 8 conditions when cruising to victory over 2100m on the Lakeside track at Sandown last time out and is set to gain similar conditions on Saturday. The Roc De Cambes gelding is searching for a hat-trick of wins to kick off this campaign and looks to be a stayer progressing nicely through the grades. Last-start winner Teofilo Star will want to make this a genuinely run 2400m event, but that could well set the race up perfectly for Gate Crash to register a last-to-first win. While he will be giving them a start, we expect he will give them a beating as well. Best Bet Race 6 – #3 Gate Crash (4) 4yo Gelding | T: Patrick Payne | J: Billy Egan (59kg) $3.40 with Unibet Next Best at Sandown – Degraves The final race of the day looks to be a corker with the likes of Persan and Grand Promenade returning from a spell en route to no doubt another Melbourne Cup campaign. However, it is the Robert Hickmott-trained Degraves we want to be with in the ‘Get Out’. The five-year-old gelding is a stayer on the rise, and with Jye McNeil on his back at 55.5kg, he is going to take some beating. He loves the slop, having won four times from six attempts on rain-affected ground, while he has won two of his three starts in Australia. Considering he will most likely lob in the one-one or three back in the moving line, the Camelot gelding is going to take a power of beating. Degraves has a win first-up to his name already, and with $4.50 on offer at Palmerbet, we are willing to get involved. Next Best Race 9 – #7 Degraves (5) 5yo Gelding | T: Robert Hickmott | J: Jye McNeil (55.5kg) $4.40 with Palmerbet Best Value at Sandown – Whipcracker Way The second race of the day is filled with plenty of runners who, on their day, can blow the field away. However, one we are willing to give a chance that the market has seemingly forgotten about is the Phillip Stokes-trained Whipcracker Way. The five-year-old gelding is a genuine wet-tracker, boasting a record of 8: 4-3-0 when getting his toe into the ground. He jumps from barrier eight on Saturday, and with speed drawn underneath him, we anticipate Beau Mertens will have our guy settled outside the leader throughout. With race fitness on his side and a genuine love for wet tracks, Whipcracker Way strikes favourable conditions and looks a great bet. We are more than happy to take on the $9 available with the top online betting sites. Best Value Race 2 – #8 Whipcracker Way (8) 5yo Gelding | T: Phillip Stokes | J: Beau Mertens (54kg) $9 with Bet365 Saturday quaddie tips for Sandown Hillside Sandown Hillside quadrella selections Saturday, June 11, 2022 3-15 1-3-12-16 5-6-11-14 6-7 Investment: $64 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
