Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 10, 2018 Journalists Share Posted August 10, 2018 After hosting the record setting 2018 Jockey and Jeans Fundraiser to benefit Permanently Disabled Jockeys’ Fund in June, Canterbury Park’s CEO and President Randy Sampson has become a voting committee member of Jockeys and Jeans and will play a vital role as the group moves forward. Founded in 2014 by five former jockeys, it raised $312,000 at the Canterbury Park event and has raised for disabled former jockeys a total exceeding $1 million. “Seeing the fallen riders was very impactful and I just want to help,” said Sampson. “I have learned over my years at Canterbury Park that racing fans will eagerly support injured jockeys. I am hoping I can bring some of what has worked with our fans in Minnesota to Jockeys and Jeans and help them continue to grow.” Sampson has been the track’s President and CEO since the Company’s inception in 1994.
