Quality Road’s Bleecker Street Comes Flying Late to Take the New York

BLEECKER STREET (f, 4, Quality Road–Lemon Liqueur, by Exchange Rate), one of four entries from the Chad Brown barn, came flying late to take the newly upgraded GI New York S. and keep her perfect record in tact. Given a 5-2 chance, the $400,000 FTSAUG buy caboosed the field early as her longshot stablemate Flighty Lady (Ire) (Sir Percy {GB}) clocked opening splits of :24.54, :50.76 and 1:16.48. Still last entering the far turn, Bleecker Street was unleashed by Irad Ortiz at the top of the stretch and powered past the field with ease for a 3/4-length score over Family Way (Uncle Mo). Two-for-two in New Jersey last year, Bleecker Street opened her 2022 account with an optional claimer score at Tampa in January, followed by wins in that venue's Feb. 5 GIII Endeavour S. and Mar. 12 GII Hillsborough S. She unleashed her trademark powerful rally when taking the GIII Modesty S. last out at Churchill May 6. Lifetime Record: 7-7-0-0.
