A winning turn awaits Scared Stiff when he heads a team of five runners Terry Chmiel takes to Addington on Sunday.

The pacer will attempt to go one better than his last two second placings when he accompanies Lizzie Richter, Reflectionsofmylife, Flyin Sid and Rapid Response to the races.

Race 5’s 2000m standing start conditions look ideal for the Scared Stiff who steps back in trip after tackling longer distances.

“He is an honest bugger and he is going good races,” Chmiel said.

“He probably just needs the right trip, he is better with cover.”

“He has just found one better in his last couple of starts but he is getting better all the time.”

Rapid Response comes into his debut after a good second in his latest trial at Ashburton.

The pacer also faces the standing start tapes in race 3.

“He will get better, whatever he does he will improve on.”

“Hopefully he can draw the front line, he is a good beginner.”

“He is a horse that is going to keep improving in the next three months.”

Chimel starts his honest mare Reflectionsofmylife in race 10 on Sunday.

The pacer has had some down time since her last start and comes into the race fresh.

“She is coming in fresh, but she has gone some of her best races fresh.”

“She seems very bright and well and she is a very honest type.”

Starting from the unruly looks the biggest challenge for Lizzie Richter in race 4.

The mare ran a good second at Rangiora two starts ago but was too far back in her latest outing at Addington.

“She has got ability but she is a bit of a handful and a headcase.”

“When she does it right she goes well.”

“The unruly is a bit hard for her, but if she got a decent suck into it she would be right.”

“She is better over a bit of distance, the 1980m races are just too short for her.”

“You can’t get into it from the unruly.”

Flyin Sid steps out in Chmiel’s colours in race 6.

The trotter will need to improve on his two starts back from a spell to make an impact.
