Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 14, 2022 Journalists Share Posted June 14, 2022 It was Grand Final Day at Eagle Farm last Saturday for a lot of horses, and now there is just one Group 1 left for the racing season. We at The Follow Files have found a couple of horse to follow out of Stradbroke Day, as well as one horse to follow from the meeting at Randwick. Eagle Farm | Track: Good 4 | Rail: +4m Entire Course Race 7: Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1600m) | Time: 1:36.01 Horse to follow: POLITICAL DEBATE (2nd) For these two-year-olds, it is almost a guarantee that we won’t see any of them until the spring, but when POLITICAL DEBATE returns, we want to be all over him. The Chris Waller-trained galloper was only having his fourth career start when lining up in the J.J. Atkins, and after failing the vet on Friday and passing fit on Saturday, the market didn’t want to be with him. After getting a mile out of his ground, the son of So You Think made up a stack of ground late to run second, less than half a length off the winner. When to bet: It is likely we won’t see him for a couple of months, but he looks to be a leading chance in the Caulfield Guineas (1600m) and potentially a Cox Plate (2040m). He looks too brilliant for a Victoria Derby (2500m), so connections are unlikely to aim for a race like that, but the Moonee Valley feature in late October looks a good target. The Jason Warren & Dean Krongold-trained mare gets back and runs on, teasing punters time and time again, but her encouraging sixth in the Stradbroke Handicap makes us rather bullish about her chances in the Tattersall’s Tiara. Back her at your own peril, but she looks on track. When to bet: With the Tatts Tiara less than a fortnight away, the flashy chestnut mare looks to be perfectly placed. Entriviere won’t be there, Isotope won’t be there, Startantes meets her worse at the weights, and we can’t see anything out of the other key lead-up races really proving good enough to win the Eagle Farm feature race. She’s each-way odds and well worth a bet. An incredible training performance from Waterhouse-Bott stable. How good is it to see Alligator Blood back at his best.#EagleFarmpic.twitter.com/O4ITBYFPMb — bet365 AUS (@bet365_aus) June 11, 2022 Randwick | Track: Soft 5 (Good 4 after R6) | Rail: +3m Entire Course Race 8: Listed Bob Charley AO Stakes (1100m) | Time: 1:04.69 Horse to follow: SNIPPY FOX (4th) SNIPPY FOX was off the bit a long way from home in the Bob Charley AO Stakes at Randwick, so to eventually run fourth was a big effort. Trained by Joe Pride, her best form has been in weaker company, but to see her stand up and run that well over 1100m in Listed grade suggests she could be in for a big preparation. She certainly looks like a horse to follow when she steps out to 1200m and even 1400m. When to bet: Just follow and see where they go with her, as there aren’t too many obvious targets in mind. Pride has been known to send his horses to Queensland, so a race like the Listed Glasshouse Handicap (1400m) at the Sunshine Coast on July 2 could be an option.
