Dubawi’s Coroebus Prevails In Palace Thriller

It was tight at the death, but Godolphin's Coroebus (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}–First Victory {Ire}, by Teofilo {Ire}) had his head in front in a blanket finish to the G1 St James's Palace S. to add to his 2000 Guineas triumph. Running free in William Buick's hands tracking the early pace-setter Lusail (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}) in a pocket in fourth, the 10-11 favourite was trapped two out but when the gap came on the fence he was through to gain a slender lead just over a furlong out. Battling courageously, he held the rallying 28-1 shot Lusail by a head, with a short head back to My Prospero (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}) in third and the race's hard-luck story Maljoom (Ire) (Caravaggio) flying late to be a further neck behind in fourth.
