Given a masterclass of front-running riding by Shane Crosse, State of Rest (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}–Repose, by Quiet American) denied the 10-11 favourite Bay Bridge (GB) (New Bay {GB}) to add Wednesday's G1 Prince of Wales's S. to his G1 Cox Plate, G1 Prix Ganay and GI Saratoga Derby trophies. Sent off at 5-1 with heavy support coming late, the bay was able to dictate at his own leisure and after he kicked in the straight kept grinding to hold the Stoute runner by a length. Grand Glory (GB) (Olympic Glory {Ire}) rewarded her supplementary entry in third, beaten 2 1/4 lengths, while Lord North (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) lost all chance at the start with Frankie unable to remove the blindfold in time for the break.

State of Rest will stand at Rathbarry Stud, Ireland and shuttle to Newgate Farm, Australia upon his retirement.
