It has been 1,387 days since Adrian Coome last rode a horse under race conditions, but that streak will end on Saturday at Rockhampton when he makes a return to the saddle.

The seven-time Rockhampton Jockeys Premiership winner has been training horses in that time, with 114 winners under his belt from 774 starters.

On Saturday at Callaghan Park, the 32-year-old dual-licence holder will ride two horses that he trains – Srini and Cavellton.

During his time in the saddle, Coome has ridden 976 career winners, so no doubt he will be hungry to reach the illustrious ‘1,000 Club’.

The champion rider has reportedly lost close to 15kg in preparation for his return to the saddle and he hopes to get down to 57kg in the next few months.

On Saturday, both Srini (60.5kg) and Cavellton (61.5kg) will carry the top weight in their respective races, making it a somewhat easy return for Coome.

Srini looks well-placed in a Class 3 Handicap despite the top weight after an encouraging performance in Class 6 company last start, while Cavellton also comes out of Class 6 grade to contest a Benchmark 65 over 1200m.
