Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 18, 2022 Journalists Posted June 18, 2022 Mind Control (h, 6, Stay Thirsty–Feel That Fire, by Lightnin N Thunder) outslugged Hot Rod Charlie (Oxbow) by the narrowest of margins in an absolute thriller in Saturday's GIII Salvator Mile S. at Monmouth Park. Sent to the front from his rail draw, Mind Control showed the way as 1-5 favorite Hot Rot Charlie stalked in second. Hot Rod Charlie, making his first start since finishing second in the G1 Dubai World Cup, drew up alongside leaving the quarter pole and looked to be well on his way after taking a narrow advantage in the stretch. Mind Control, off at odds of 2-1, had other ideas, however, and fought back gamely to get his nose on the line first in a race that didn't deserve a loser. The two-time Grade I winner Mind Control entered off a fifth-place finish in the GI Churchill Downs S. May 7. Lifetime Record: 26-10-3-5. O-Red Oak Stable (Brunetti) & Madaket Stables, LLC; B-Red Oak Stable (KY); T-Todd Pletcher.
