Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted June 23, 2022 Journalists Share Posted June 23, 2022 What Caulfield Races Where Caulfield Racecourse – 22 Station St, Caulfield East VIC 3145 When Saturday, June 25, 2022 First Race 11:50am AEST Visit Ladbrokes Caulfield Racecourse is set to host a nine-part card on Saturday from 11:50am AEST. The track is rated a Soft 6, with the rail in the true position for the entire circuit. HorseBetting’s Victorian horse racing form analyst brings you best bets, top odds and free quaddie numbers for the meeting. Best Bet at Caulfield: Chief Altony The Alex Rae-trained Chief Altony is the definition of a winter specialist, and with soft conditions expected on Saturday, he simply looks the best bet of the day. Having raced on Heavy 9 tracks at his last three starts, he has not finished outside of the top three, while two starts back he put close to four lengths on his rivals on the Lakeside track at Sandown. Thomas Stockdale sticks on board and his 2kg claim brings the weight down to 60kg, which will only aid the five-year-old gelding’s chances of running on strongly at the end of the 1600m. With a record of 6: 2-3-1 at the mile, it is clearly his pet distance and, with favoured conditions on his side, we cannot see Chief Altony getting beaten in this. The $3.30 on offer with Unibet is a perfect price to load into on Saturday. Best Bet Race 5 – #1 Chief Altony (5) 5yo Gelding | T: Alex Rae | J: Thomas Stockdale (a2) (62kg) $3.30 with Unibet Next Best at Caulfield: Excelleration Having smashed his rivals at Flemington on June 4, we anticipate the Richard Cully-trained Excelleration can go on with the job here at Caulfield as he steps out over 2000m. The five-year-old was ridden cold, settling at the back of the field, and unleashed a strong finishing burst to eventually go on and win by 1.5 lengths. That win came on a Soft 6, and with similar track conditions expected on Saturday, in a field that is no harder, the Excelebration gelding looks the one to beat. Race favourite Grandslam is yet to run a drum on rain-affected ground and is sure to set up the race for backmarker like Excelleration to finish strongly down the centre of the track. The $6 available with online bookmakers looks a great bet. Next Best Race 4 – #10 Excelleration (4) 5yo Gelding | T: Richard Cully | J: Michael Dee (54kg) $6 with Bet365 Best Value at Caulfield: Vultan Ken & Kasey Keys’ lightly raced three-year-old Vultan has returned in fine style this campaign, and we expect he will handle the step into metro grade with great aplomb. The Mshawish gelding won by a space at Moe when first-up, and despite being badly held up at Mornington last time out, he finished the best and got the job done in the shadows of the winning post. He looks to be a genuine swimmer, with his wins this campaign coming on a Soft 7 and a Heavy 10 respectively. The more rain the better for this bloke, and considering by the third leg of the quaddie the track should be getting chopped up, we expect Vultan to notch up a third-straight win at a nice each-way price. Best Value Race 8 – #7 Vultan (6) 3yo Gelding | T: Ken & Kasey Keys | J: Thomas Stockdale (a2) (54kg) $11 with Palmerbet Saturday quaddie tips for Caulfield Caulfield quadrella selections Saturday, June 25, 2022 1-2-4-7 1-3-8 2-5-7-9 4-7-8-11 Investment: $192 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
