GERRYMANDER (f, 3, Into Mischief–Ruby Lips, by Hard Spun) earned her graded badge with a win in the GII Mother Goose S. Saturday at Belmont. Breaking on top, she was overtaken by heavily favored Juju's Map (Liam's Map) and Shahama (Munnings) and settled for a tracking third with Venti Valentine (Firing Line) off her heels in last of four. Sweeping up two wide to challenge turning for home, the $375,000 KEESEP buy kicked clear with a furlong to run to win by two lengths over Shahama with Juju's Map in third an Venti Valentine last of the quartet. A second-out graduate at Saratoga last summer, Gerrymander checked in second to future champion Echo Zulu (Gun Runner) in the GI Frizette S. in October and closed 2021 with a win in the Tempted S. Nov. 5. She opened 2022 with a non-factor sixth in the GII Eight Belles S. May 6 at Churchill Downs.
