Racing returns to the Murray Bridge Racing Club on Saturday afternoon for a bumper 10-race card. With plenty of rain around the area, we are set to be racing on a Soft 6, whilst the rail sticks to the true position, meaning if you can handle the conditions on the weekend, you will get your chance if good enough. The day of racing gets underway at 10:58am ACST.

Best Bet at Murray Bridge: Karacasu

Having gone down by two lengths to the progressive Passive Aggressive in the A.R. Creswick Stakes last time out, Karacasu looks a class above his rivals in this 3YO Plate. There may be no prizes for tipping $1.75 shots, but this three-year-old gelding has been placed twice at Group 3 level and has always been touted as a sprinter with above-average ability. With plenty of speed accepted in this, Jake Toeroek will have this bloke settled in the second half of the field. However, armed with a strong turn of foot and a bit of class on his side, Karacasu should be giving his rivals windburn in this. Moral.

Best Bet

Race 6 – Silk #1 Karacasu (4)

3yo Gelding | T: Richard & Chantelle Jolly | J: Jake Toeroek (58.5kg)

$1.75 with Unibet

Next Best at Murray Bridge: Set To Prophet

Considering he won with plenty in hand at Donald last time out, the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Set To Prophet looks well placed in this BM68 affair. The Extreme Choice gelding managed to stalk the speed throughout on that day and quickly pounced on the lead early in the home straight. Despite being left in front a long way out, the chestnut had a fair bit on his rivals at Donald, and we anticipate something similar on Saturday. From barrier eight, look for the in-form Todd Pannell to have this bloke settled in second half of the field, just like the horse did at Pakenham when winning three starts back. A drying track will help his chances, but winning on a Soft 5 at Donald showed he should handle these conditions. Set To Prophet’s turn of foot is the best in the race, so we are more than happy to load into the $4.40 available with online betting sites.

Next Best

Race 9 – Silk #10 Set To Prophet (8)

3yo Gelding | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Kayla Crowther (58.5kg)

$4.40 with Neds

Best Value at Murray Bridge: Canidae

The John Hickmott & Carrina Riggs-trained Canidae has been racing in fine form this campaign and looks ready to break through for a ninth win at start 74. The veteran has one win this preparation to go alongside five minor placings, suggesting he will go close in a race like this. Despite holding a 14: 0-2-3 record at Murray Bridge, the six-year-old gelding produced a barnstorming finish when finishing third here on June 18, beaten a neck in the end. If we get any more rain in the lead up to Saturday, it should suit this guy perfectly. Canidae showed a strong turn of foot last time out, so the $10 with PlayUp looks a great price.

Best Value

Race 4 – Silk #7 Canidae (4)

6yo Gelding | T: John Hickmott & Carrina Riggs | J: Jeffrey Maund (58kg)

$10 with PlayUp
