HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers for the 10-race program at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, July 2. The track is rated a Good 4 and the rail is out 8m from the 1500m to the winning post, then out 5m for the remainder of the course. The first race of the day is scheduled to jump at 11am AEST.

Best Bet at Rosehill Gardens – Shades Of Rose

Bjorn Baker and Tim Clark combine in the fifth race of the day with unbeaten filly Shades Of Rose, who resumes for her first run since February. The three-year-old by Rubick won on debut at Bathurst on January 25 over 1100m, before breaking a track record for the 1100m at Bathurst on February 7 when winning by almost eight lengths. Baker aimed a little higher with the filly at her next start, taking her Canterbury for a 1200m 3YO Benchmark 64, which she once again was too good in. In her first trial, Shades Of Rose was beaten less than a length at Randwick, while her most recent trial saw her boot clear to win by five lengths, in clearly the fastest time of the morning. She and Tim Clark can control the race from barrier 1.

Best Bet

Race 5 – Silks #5 Shades Of Rose (1)

3yo Filly | T: Bjorn Baker | J: Tim Clark (56.5kg)

$2.80 with Bet365

Next Best at Rosehill Gardens – Nicci’s Fling

Gary Portelli and Tyler Schiller combine in the first leg of the quaddie with four-year-old mare Nicci’s Fling. The daughter of Nicconi was good last start on June 18, making ground out wide on the track to run third behind Bella Rouge and Lady Of Luxury – two quality mares. This Fillies & Mares Benchmark 78 doesn’t quite have the same class, yet the Portelli-trained mare gets in at the same weight of 58.5kg after Schiller’s 2kg claim. Once again, there will be a bit of pace in the race, which should suit this galloper who is likely to get back from barrier three. This is the right race for Nicci’s Fling.

Next Best

Race 7 – Silks #1 Nicci’s Fling (3)

4yo Mare | T: Gary Portelli | J: Tyler Schiller (a2)(60.5kg)

$5.50 with Neds

Best Value at Rosehill Gardens – Air To Air

The last time we saw Air To Air at the races, she finished four lengths 10th in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Crown, which saw stewards issue her a warning for being slow to begin. Since then, the talented five-year-old has changed hands from Jason Coyle to Sam Kavanagh, and he looks to have worked out her barrier manners. In her first trial, she again flopped out of the gates, but most recently on June 15, the daughter of Smart Missile jumped well, mustered speed and led the field under a pretty tight hold. The blinkers come off for the first time under race conditions which she trialled without, so from the wide alley, Kerrin McEvoy can go forward and be handy, which could see this mare run a much improved race in lesser grade.

Best Value

Race 3 – Silks #12 Air To Air (10)

5yo Mare | T: Sam Kavanough | J: Kerrin McEvoy (54kg)

$13 with Ladbrokes
