The Murrumbidgee Turf Club will play host to eight races on Monday afternoon, so HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst has studied the card and brings you his best bets, value bet and quaddie numbers. The track is rated a Heavy 10, and more rain is predicted, so there has to be some doubt as to whether the meeting will go ahead. The rail is out 6m from the 1400m to the Winning Post and 3m for the remainder of the course.

The field for the first race of the afternoon will face the starter at 12:05pm AEST.

Wagga Best Bet – Poker Dice

It is an average card on Monday, but there has to be eight winners. In the second, Keith Dryden and Brendan Ward combine with maiden galloper Pokerdice, who gets a nice set up in this 1800m event. The son of Casino Prince is bred to handle the slop, and his last-start third on a Soft 7 suggests that. While that was over 2000m and he seemingly wanted further, coming back to 1800m on a Heavy 10 should still race like a bit more of a genuine staying test, while he will have plenty of fitness on his side. Barrier 16 isn’t too much of an issue in this sort of race, so we are happy to have something on him at $7.

Best Bet

Race 2 – Silk #11 Poker Dice (17)

3yo Gelding | T: Keith Dryden | J: Brendan Ward (55kg)

$7 with Ladbrokes

Wagga Next Best – Wee Juggler

In the opener, Peter Clancy and Jeff Penza team up with four-year-old mare, Wee Juggler. Although a maiden from 10 starts, some of her better runs have been on wet tracks, so we expect her to appreciate the conditions in this weak maiden. By Press Statement, the mare should be rock-hard fit as she comes right back in trip from 1400m to 1000m – a distance she has placed twice at. Penza can look for a forward position from barrier six and give Wee Juggler every chance of breaking through at start 11.

Next Best

Race 1 – Silk #12 Wee Juggler (6)

4yo Mare | T: Peter Clancy | J: Jeff Penza (57kg)

$4.20 with Neds

Wagga Best Value – Eliseo

Elisio hasn’t raced since September, so he is likely to need the run, but the big odds on offer with online bookmakers has caught our eye. The four-year-old son of Your Song joins the Fabio Martino stable, after starting out with James Ponsoby, so he should be well suited to the smaller stable. Both of this galloper’s wins have been on rain-affected tracks, so the wet track on Monday will suit, as will the big drop in grade. Apprentice jockey Qin Yong will take 1.5kg off the gelding’s back which will help, while barrier six should leave him with very few excuses.

Best Value

Race 8 – silk #4 Eliseo (6)

4yo Gelding | T: Fabio Martino | J: Qin Yong (a1.5)(60kg)

$51 with Palmerbet
