Daniel Pell played the Victorian ‘rebel’ with a Vic Peters heats double at Wentworth Park in Sydney on Saturday night.

Based in Toolleen, Pell saluted with litter brothers Flight Risk and Red Reactor.

The aptly named Flight Risk ($7.00) did his ‘rebel with a cause’ proud, clocking the fastest heat time (30.11sec).

Pell drove to Sydney on Saturday morning, unaware that the Wentworth Park meeting was awash with uncertainty due to inclement weather conditions. His mother, Bev, had booked a flight from Melbourne later that afternoon to witness a memorable feat.

Red Reactor ($4.60) ‘melted down’ his rivals nearly 45 minutes after Flight Risk, scoring in 30.21sec.

Both will now contest the $75,000 to-the-winner Group 1 final (520m) this Saturday night. Flight Risk has drawn box three, while Red Reactor has drawn box five.

Flight Risk is rated a $6 chance on TAB fixed odds and Red Reactor is $4.50. They were $15 and $18 respectively prior to the heats.
