Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 7, 2022 Journalists Share Posted July 7, 2022 What Winter Stakes Day 2022 Where Royal Randwick Racecourse – Alison Rd, Randwick NSW 2031 When Saturday, July 9, 2022 First Race 11am AEST Visit Ladbrokes A 10-race meeting has been assembled this Saturday at Royal Randwick, featuring just the one Listed event – the Winter Stakes. HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for the program, which is scheduled to kick off at 11am AEST. The track is rated a Heavy 10 and the rail is out 10m for the entire course. Winter Stakes Best Bet – Love Tap Love Tap seems to find his way into our numbers far too often for a horse who hasn’t won for a while, but the wet track and likely speed map should suit the big grey down to the ground. The son of Tapit hasn’t won since September, but he has run some nice races in good grades. Although this isn’t an easy task, Andrew Adkins can send the four-year-old forward from barrier four and give them something to chase. The Freedmans have opted to reapply blinkers, which should switch him on, so we are hoping to see him roll along on the speed. The $19 with online bookmakers is appealing. Winter Stakes Best bet Race 8 – #10 Love Tap (4) 4yo Gelding | T: Richard & Will Freedman | J: Andrew Adkins (53kg) $19 with Palmerbet Best Bet at Randwick – Easy Single The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained sprinter Easy Single is building a nice racing record with four wins and four runner-up performances from 10 starts. The four-year-old son of Not A Single Doubt won at Flemington first-up, before getting nosed out by Siege over 1000m at this track on June 11 on a Soft 5. While he is yet to race on a heavy track, Easy Single has won three races on soft tracks, indicating that he should handle the conditions. From barrier three, apprentice jockey Ellen Hennessy will go handy to the speed in this 1100m contest and put her mount well and truly within striking distance. Best Bet Race 6 – #1 Easy Single (3) 4yo Gelding | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Ellen Hennessy (a3)(61.5kg) $3.10 with Neds Next Best at Randwick – Rubinocchi Hopefully, this is a case of jumping, leading and winning. Joseph Pride saddles up three-year-old Rubinocchi in this Fillies & Mares Benchmark 78 over 1100m, and she should take plenty of beating. To be ridden by Sam Clipperton, the Rubick filly should dictate terms from the front provided she jumps cleanly from the inside barrier. Rubinocchi ran her rivals into the ground last start at Rosehill on a Good 4, so she will have to repeat that on this Heavy 10 surface, but she has an excellent wet-track record which suggests she should be able to do it at both ends. Next Best Race 9 – #2 Rubinocchi (1) 3yo Filly | T: Joseph Pride | J: Sam Clipperton (60kg) $3.70 with PlayUp Best Value at Randwick – Mr Gee John O’Shea and Reece Jones combine in race four with Mr Gee, who looks ready to win. The son of All Too Hard hasn’t been racing in the best of form this preparation, but he’s now getting down low in the weights, with 56kg on his back after Jones’ claim. The four-year-old gelding has won five races, so he is no slouch, although he is zero from three at Randwick. Mr Gee has won two races on rain-affected surfaces, so the sting out of the track will suit, as will the rise to 2000m. If he gets some cover early from barrier nine, he will be strong late. Best Value Race 4 – #6 Mr Gee (9) 4yo Gelding | T: John O’Shea | J: Reece Jones (a2)(58kg) $21 with Ladbrokes Saturday quaddie tips for Royal Randwick Randwick quadrella selections Saturday, July 9, 2022 4-9-11 2-3-10-12 1-2-6 1-2-3-7-14 Investment: $180 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
