Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 13, 2022 Journalists Share Posted July 13, 2022 What Ipswich Races Where Ipswich Turf Club – 219 Brisbane Rd, Bundamba QLD 4304 When Thursday, July 14, 2022 First Race 11:17am AEST Visit Ladbrokes Nine races will be run and won at Ipswich on Thursday afternoon. HorseBetting’s Queensland racing analyst presents you with his best bets, value bet & quaddie numbers for the meeting, which is set to begin at 11:17am AEST. The track is rated a Soft 7 and the rail is out 6m for the entire course. Best Bet at Ipswich – Port Mourant The first horse that appears in the race book is race one, horse one, Port Mourant. The Shaun Dwyer-trained four-year-old has been knocking on the door to win a maiden when placed at his last two outings, so this looks a great chance to finally break through. The son of Melbourne Cup-winning stallion Fiorente has only just missed in his past two starts over 2200m and 2500m respectively, so he should be able to take care of this field over 2180m. From barrier seven, in-form jockey Mark Du Plessis will have him in the first three or four, allowing him to sprint at the top of the straight and be too good. He should be mighty hard to beat in the first. Best Bet Race 1 – #1 Port Mourant (7) 4yo Gelding | T: Shaun Dwyer | J: Mark Du Plessis (57.5kg) $4.60 with PlayUp Next Best at Ipswich – Du Maurier Helen Page and Tiffani Brooker combine in the seventh race of the day with consistent filly, Du Maurier. The three-year-old by Sebring only beat three horses home in the Group 2 The Roses at Doomben on May 28 over 2100m, before stringing back-to-back victories together at the Gold Coast over 1800m and 1700m respectively. Two starts ago, she defeated Little Mix who went on to run third in the Listed Tattersall’s Gold Crown at Eagle Farm, while most recently, she defeated Choir Boy who franked that form with a two-length win at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday. Du Maurier will race handy to the speed from barrier two in this 1690m contest and should once again take a fair amount of stopping. Next Best Race 7 – #5 Du Maurier (2) 3yo Filly | T: Helen Page | J: Tiffani Brooker (57kg) $3.50 with Palmerbet Next Best Again at Ipswich – Ahika Shaun Dwyer and Mark Du Plessis look set for a good afternoon at Ipswich, as they also team up a bit later in the afternoon with another maiden galloper, Ahika. The five-year-old mare by Dundeel has been racing well without winning in some good form races, which include runs behind the very promising Delyth, and most recently, Prince Amongst Men. While her breeding suggests she wants closer to 2000m, Dwyer has kept Ahika in a 1200m contest on Thursday as she wasn’t all that far away at this track and distance last start. Provided she jumps well from barrier 10, Du Plessis can have her handy to the speed and give them something to chase. Next Best Again Race 4 – #1 Ahika (10) 5yo Mare | T: Shaun Dwyer | J: Mark Du Plessis (57kg) $2.70 with Ladbrokes Thursday quaddie picks for Ipswich Ipswich quadrella selections Thursday, July 14, 2022 3-5-7-12 5-6 1-4-5-8-11 1-6-7-11 Investment: $160 for 100% More Saturday racing tips View the full article
