Queensland’s metropolitan meeting on Wednesday takes place at the Ipswich Turf Club, where eight races will be run and won. HorseBetting’s Queensland racing analyst has picked out three good things across the course of the afternoon, as well as his suggested quaddie numbers. The track is rated Soft 5, the rail has been moved out 8m for the entire course, and the first race is scheduled for 12:33pm AEST.

Best Bet at Ipswich – Chasing Jackley

We can put a dent in the bookies’ wallets early on in the afternoon on Wednesday, with two of our three tips coming up in the opening two races. Alyssa & Troy Sweeney saddle up maiden galloper Chasing Jackley in the second event of the day, and the gelding looks mighty hard to beat following a narrow second at Toowoomba on July 9 over 1300m. Prior to that, the four-year-old mixed form behind Primal Lockdown, Argyle Pink and My Oddette, which looks good enough for a race like this. Kyle Wilson-Taylor hops aboard the son of Unusual Suspect, and from barrier one, Queensland’s leading apprentice will have him in a good position on the speed and give them something to catch in the straight. Start six looks the right time for this horse to break through.

Race 2 – Silks #3 Chasing Jackley (1)

Next Best at Ipswich – Mista Omega

Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted’s Mista Omega was a lovely winner at Eagle Farm on June 29, breaking his maiden status at start four. The four-year-old son of Real Saga was able to slice his way through the pack under Jaden Lloyd, recording a comfortable 1.5-length victory in the 1000m event. While the task is ahead of him as he now looks to win a Class 1 at his next start, he should have this field covered if he brings his best form. Boris Thornton replaces the suspended Jaden Lloyd, but he shouldn’t have to do much on him from the wide gate in this below-average field.

Race 6 – Silks #1 Mista Omega (8)

4yo Gelding | T: Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted | J: Boris Thornton (59kg)

Next Best Again at Ipswich – Miss Cinnamoncider

In the opening race of the afternoon, Will Louden and Mark Du Plessis combine with handy two-year-old filly Miss Cinnamoncider. The daughter of Divine Prophet will be taking on the older horses on Wednesday, but we love seeing that at this time of year. Although her form doesn’t jump off the page for a metropolitan-grade race, she has been good at her last two starts at Rockhampton when finishing runner-up on both occasions. Most recently, she chased Divine Courage on Rockhampton Newmarket Day, while she was able to beat home Ambitious Spirit, who races well without winning in Brisbane. She should get a nice run from barrier five and go close to winning her first race.

Next Best Again

Race 1 – Silks #5 Miss Cinnamoncider (5)

2yo Filly | T: Will Louden | J: Mark Du Plessis (56.5kg)
