Cranbourne will host an eight-race card on Thursday afternoon on a predicted Heavy 9 surface. Race one will begin at 1pm AEST, while the last will see us through at 4:30pm. The quaddie legs are from races five through eight, and we have had to go a little wide with our quaddie tips on what looks to be a tricky afternoon for punters.

CRANBOURNE BEST BET: READ

Chris Waller and Craig Williams combine with this Iffraaj x Grand Belt gelding who is having his second start. On debut at Sandown Lakeside his run wasn’t too bad when fifth, beaten less than two lengths, and we feel that he will have improved significantly from that outing. Before his debut, his two trials were very good at Flemington, and having a leading jockey on will only help. He hit the line well at Sandown and we will be looking for a similar racing pattern again with him steaming down the outside. That race was on a Soft surface, so we can only assume he likes it wet or Waller wouldn’t have chosen this option for his second start.

NEXT BEST AT CRANBOURNE: THE EXCHANGE

Ben & JD Hayes have a promising horse here who will probably be better next campaign. He is a bit green but can still win this after winning well at his second start on June 28 on the Ballarat synthetic. The Heavy track form is unknown, but he has trialed a few times on the Heavy and Soft and was not disgraced. Rising (No.2) will be one to watch but has a bad barrier in 14, while Seeone for Patrick Payne is promising but has a similar issue having to contend with a wide barrier in 16 following a poor trial on Heavy ground recently. Cos I’m The Boss has been in the money her last five starts but also has a wide barrier (19).
