Where Caulfield Racecourse – 22 Station St, Caulfield East VIC 3145

First Race 12:05pm AEST

Caulfield Racecourse is set to host its final meeting of the 2021/22 season this Saturday when the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes headlines a nine-race card. Despite a warm winter day by Melbourne standards expected on Friday, we still look set to be racing on a Soft 5/6, with the rail out 6m for the entire circuit. The action at ‘The Heath’ is set to get underway at 12:05pm AEST.

Bletchingly Stakes Top Tip: King Of Sparta

The $200,000 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) is the feature event on Saturday and is a key stepping stone for runners heading to the Memsie Stakes at the back end of August. The three-year-old King Of Sparta from the Peter & Paul Snowden yard has more than enough ability to take out a weak Group 3 event like this. Despite over-racing last start in the W.J. Healy Stakes, he did well to go down by just two lengths when finishing sixth. With Jye McNeil on his back and drawn in barrier one, the I Am Invincible gelding draws to no work in transit, and with respectable defeats behind the likes of Home Affairs and Paulele in his locker, this is much easier than anything he has faced in a while. The $6 on offer with the best online betting sites is a price we cannot pass up.

Best Bet at Caulfield: Boogie Dancer

On the back of an impressive victory at Sandown on July 13, we are hoping the Peter Moody-trained Boogie Dancer can replicate that performance in Saturday grade this weekend. The two-year-old looked the winner a long way out in his last race, and despite being held up for a run halfway down the Hillside straight, she quickened nicely on a Heavy 9 and put close to four lengths on her closest rival. Jamie Kah sticks on board, and getting on to a Soft track can only be beneficial for this progressive Sooboog filly. From barrier five, if Kah can lob the chestnut in the one-one or midfield with cover, Boogie Dancer has a turn of foot that not many (if any) of her rivals can match.

Next Best at Caulfield: Minouche

The James Cummings-trained Minouche returns to a track she has a win and a second at from two starts, and we expect the filly to build on her already impressive Caulfield record this weekend. Having only missed the placings in one of her six career starts (which was in Group 3 company), the three-year-old returned with a 2.5 length defeat to Hello Broadcast at Sandown on July 6 – a day where it was advantageous to be close to the speed. She won second-up in her initial campaign, but with Damien Oliver on board once again, this daughter of Written Tycoon has more than enough ability to take out a race like this. She holds a win over subsequent Australian Oaks winner El Patroness to her name, and despite needing to carry 60kg, we expect Ollie will lift her over the line.

Best Value at Caulfield: Attractable

In the opening leg of the quaddie, we are hoping the Peter Moody-trained Attractable can cause a minor boilover. The three-year-old won three times from five starts last campaign; the only time he missed the minor money was when outclassed in the Group 2 Caulfield Autumn Classic behind Castlereagh Kid and El Patroness. He makes his own luck up on speed, and with Luke Nolen on board once again, look for the I Am Invincible gelding to be settled outside the leader or in the one-one. This bloke has a bit of untapped ability about him, and despite this being a tricky little three-year-old race, we are happy to take the $12 with online bookmakers for a horse with the upside that Attractable has.

Race 6 – Silk #4 Attractable (8)
