Gold Square's Cyberknife (c, 3, Gun Runner–Awesome Flower, by Flower Alley), let go at 7-1, snuck through along the rail to overtake Taiba (Gun Runner) in the final strides to win the GI Haskell S. at Monmouth Park Saturday. The chestnut colt settled off the pace as favorite Jack Christopher (Munnings) chased longshot pacesetter Benevengo (Gormley). Jack Christopher took over at the head of the lane, but the favorite soon began to tire as Taiba was winding up on the outside and looked set to fly home. But Cyberknife was finding his best stride along the rail to just get his head in front on the line. The final time for the nine furlongs was 1:46.24, breaking the track record set by Highly Motivated just five races earlier. The previous record had been held since Spend a Buck since 1985. Lifetime Record: 9-5-2-0. O-Gold Square LLC. B-Ken and Sarah Ramsey. T-Brad Cox.
