Galileo’s Kyprios Annexes Pulsating Renewal Of The Goodwood Cup

Tuesday's G1 Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup was every bit as engaging from start to finish as it had promised to be, with ultimately Kyprios (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) winning out ahead of Stradivarius (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) in a pulsating finale. Sent up to race in third early by Ryan Moore, Ballydoyle's June 16 G1 Gold Cup hero had to see off last year's winner Trueshan (Fr) (Planteur {Ire}) up the centre of the track and was driven forward again to deny the four-times Goodwood Cup winner racing a few horse widths away. At the line, the 6-4 favourite had a neck to spare over Bjorn Nielsen's wonderful stayer, with Trueshan 1 1/4 lengths behind in third.
