A massive 12-race program is scheduled for Belmont on Saturday as the Perth track makes up for a postponed meeting two weeks ago. HorseBetting’s WA racing analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers for the program, which is scheduled to begin at a very early 9:59am AWST. The track is rated a Heavy 8 and more rain is on the way, so the meeting is in serious doubt – especially after Belmont’s Wednesday program was postponed due to the state of the track. The rail is in the true position for the entire course.

Best Bet at Belmont – Universal Flair

Any form around Amelia’s Jewel is good form, so we are expecting three-year-old Universal Flair to take care of her rivals in the opening race on Saturday. The Ted Martinovich-trained filly was beaten three lengths by Amelia’s Jewel on debut in the Listed Supremacy Stakes, before running five lengths away in sixth in the Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes on March 19. While she wasn’t able to win when hard in the market at start three, she was beaten by a smart colt in Swear To God. The daughter of Universal Ruler will search for the front from barrier 10 under Natasha Faithfull and should be too hard to catch in what is a weak 3YO No Metro Wins Last Year Handicap over 1000m.

Best Bet

Race 1 – Silk #9 Universal Flair (10)

3yo Filly | T: Ted Martinovich | J: Natasha Faithfull (57kg)

$3.40 with Ladbrokes

Next Best at Belmont – Hear My Prayer

While Amelia’s Dream might be the best youngster in the west, Aztec Ruler might not be all that far behind her. Aztec Ruler bolted in at Belmont on July 16 at just his second start, and one horse that he beat was the Daniel & Ben Pearce-trained Hear My Prayer. The now three-year-old won his subsequent race at Northam in fine style, coming from near last to win by a length, and we are confident that he can bring that to town now. The son of Playing God is likely to get back in the run under Joseph Azzopardi, but from barrier two, he could settle a pair or two closer and give himself an even better chance of winning.

Next Best

Race 6 – Silk #4 Hear My Prayer (2)

3yo Gelding | T: Daniel & Ben Pearce | J: Joseph Azzopardi (56kg)

$7.50 with Neds

Next Best Again at Belmont – Reliable Star

Last Saturday, classy galloper Black Fantasy gave his rivals an out-and-out galloping lesson over 2100m here at Belmont, and running third was the Adam Durrant-trained Reliable Star. Finishing second was Rostropovich – once a very handy stayer – so the form should stack up in this Rating 72+ Handicap. Taj Dyson is in the saddle, so his 3kg allowance will see this five-year-old get in with just 57kg, making her very hard to beat. From barrier six, the mare by Reliable Man will be in the second half of the field and should be able to circle the field and put her rivals away.

Next Best Again

Race 5 – Silk #1 Reliable Star (6)

5yo Mare | T: Adam Durrant | J: Taj Dyson (a3)(60kg)

$6 with Bet365
