Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 11, 2022 Journalists Share Posted August 11, 2022 What Geelong Races Where Geelong Racecourse – 99 Breakwater Rd, Breakwater VIC 3219 When Friday, August 12, 2022 First Race 1pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes Geelong Racecourse is the destination for racing in Victoria on Friday afternoon, with an eight-race card set down for decision. HorseBetting’s Victorian form expert presents his best bets and quaddie numbers for the day, which kicks off at 1pm AEST. The action is set to be staged on a Soft 5, with the rail out 7m from the 1800m-400m and out 11m for the remainder. Best Bet at Geelong – Madame Du Gast Our best bet of the day comes up in the second leg of the quaddie when the Trevor Rogers-trained Madame Du Gast attempts to bring up a second win at start six. The four-year-old mare had been racing in stronger company during her initial campaign and wasn’t disgraced in a Group 3 race behind the smart Argentia and Scorched Earth. The De Gaulle mare returned at Bendigo with a 2.25 length defeat on July 31 on a Heavy 8, so the fact she gets back on to a bit more firmer going has her right in control of a race like this. The booking of Craig Williams is a massive push and with a genuinely run 1330m event expected, look for Willow to have her charging down the outside and proving too hard to hold out. Best Bet Race 6 – #6 Madame Du Gast (5) 4yo Mare | T: Trevor Rogers | J: Craig Williams (58.5kg) $2.20 with Unibet Next Best at Geelong – Demon Award One of our better bets of the day comes up in the opening event over 1230m, where the Leon & Troy Corstens-trained Demon Award looks to break his maiden at start four. The three-year-old colt returned from a spell with a narrow defeat at Bendigo on July 31 over 1100m in a race where he appreciated a massive drop in grade. The son of Shamus Award had chased home the likes of Sebonack, I’mlovin’ya and Nanagui in Stakes grade in his initial campaign, so he should appreciate going around in a shallow maiden like this on Friday. From barrier six, look for the in-form Billy Egan to have him positioned outside the leader or just off the heels. With clear air in the home straight, Demon Award should be too good for this lot. Next Best Race 1 – #3 Demon Award (6) 3yo Colt | T: Leon & Troy Corstens | J: Billy Egan (58kg) $5 with Bet365 Best Value at Geelong – A Good Yarn Veteran sprinter A Good Yarn from the Mervyn McKenzie yard presents as a great value bet in the final race of the day on Friday. The nine-year-old gelding has been mixing form in recent times have finished second at two of his last four starts, but at the other two finished worse than midfield. He arguably does his best racing at the 1100m and with a win and two minor placings to his name at the track and trip, we know he will handle what is front of him in this BM64. With Mikaela Lawrence’s claim, A Good yarn goes around with just 58kg on his back and if he can find cover close to the speed, he looks a great value play with online bookmakers. Best Value Race 8 – #3 A Good Yarn (6) 9yo Gelding | T: Mervyn McKenzie | J: Mikaela Lawrence (a2) (60kg) $18 with Palmerbet Friday Quaddie Tips for Geelong Geelong quadrella selections Friday, August 12, 2022 4-9 1-6 1-10-11 2-3-6-15 Investment: $48 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
