Casa Creed Denies Regal Glory In Fourstardave

Chad Brown will have to wait another year as Casa Creed, last out winner of the GI Jaipur S. at Belmont, turned on the after-burners late in the stretch to storm past a trio of contenders in Saturday's GI Fourstardave H. and book his ticket to the GI Breeders' Cup Mile this November. Much was made pre-race of the lack of this win on Chad Brown's resume and he entered with two of the five runners, including the only mare in the field, 1-2 favorite Regal Glory (Animal Kingdom). Breaking from the rail in this five-horse field, Casa Creed, away at 4-1, got squeezed back shortly after the break and had to settle behind the field as Get Smokin (Get Stormy) set the pace. Still last in the compact group, the bay waited to make his move around the far turn until Jose Ortiz asked Regal Glory for more just in front of him. Angled out widest of the quartet, Casa Creed bid four-wide for the lead past the sixteenth pole and out-sprinted Regal Glory to the line to win in 1:34.20.
