Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 14, 2022 Journalists Posted August 14, 2022 The $100,000 it took to purchase VEGAS MAGIC (2, f, Good Magic–Heidi Maria, by Rockport Harbor) out of this year's OBS March Sale now seems a bargain as she is three-for-three in her young career under trainer Doug O'Neill including Saturday's win in Del Mar's GII Sorento S. Inside of a trio of runners early, the 14-1 longshot stayed boxed in behind a pair of leaders up the backstretch before ranging up to be second inside of favorite Procrastination (Not This Time) midway around the turn. Angled out as the leader ducked inwards at the quarter-pole, Vegas Magic came under a hard right-handed ride, drew even with Procrastination at the sixteenth pole, and gamely dug in to out-pace her rival to the line. The 2-year-old fillies completed the six furlongs in 1:11.46. Her win provides freshman Hill 'n' Dale stallion Good Magic (by Curlin) his first graded-stakes win. O-Omar Aldabbagh, Todd Cady & Ty Leatherman. B-Machmer Hall. T-Doug O'Neill. Lifetime Record: 3-3-0-0.
