The chestnut, off a beat slow, sat in third through fractions of :23.05 and :46.69. He put in a three-wide bid entering the turn, hit the gas with a devastating turn of foot to open daylight as they straightened for home, and kept on rolling into the stretch to win by a Pacific Classic record-setting 12 1/2 lengths. Pavel (Creative Cause) was second; Prime Attraction (Unbridled’s Song) was third. The final time for 1 1/4 miles was 2:01.83.
