NEST (f, 3, Curlin–Marion Ravenwood, by A.P. Indy) answered any question as to who the top sophomore filly in the country if with her second straight dominant victory over GI Kentucky Oaks winner Secret Oath (Arrogate) in Saturday's GI Alabama S. at Saratoga. Bobbling at the start, the 1-5 chalk stalked longshot She's Keen (Keen Ice) from a joint second through a :24.39 opening quarter and :49.44 half-mile with Secret Oath back off the pace in fifth. Drawing alongside the pacesetter a half-mile left to run, Nest took command entering the far turn as Secret Oath ranged up behind her. Four wide turning for home with Secret Oath on her outside, Nest blasted clear in the lane under a motionless Irad Ortiz, Jr. to win for fun by five lengths. Secret Oath held second. Second in her first meeting with Secret Oath in the GI Kentucky Oaks, Nest completed the exacta behind stablemate Mo Donegal (Uncle Mo) in the GI Belmont S. June 11. She demolished the Oaks winner with a 12 1/4-length tour de force in the GI CCA Oaks at the Spa July 23. Lifetime Record: 9-6-2-1.
