Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 23, 2022 Journalists Share Posted August 23, 2022 What Bendigo Races Where Bendigo Jockey Club – Heinz St, White Hills VIC 3550 When Thursday, August 25, 2022 First Race 12:30pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes Racing heads to the Bendigo Jockey Club this Thursday afternoon for what promises to be a bumper nine-race program. With plenty of rain all over the state, participants will be racing on a Heavy 9, whilst the rail will be out 5m for the entire circuit. Horses with race fitness under their belt and an ability to handle rain-affected tracks are a must for those looking to have a successful day at the ‘Nursery of Champions’. The first race is set to go at 12:30pm AEST. Best Bet at Bendigo – Lascars The ever-prominent combination of James Cummings and Damien Oliver will be looking to strike gold once again when they partner with three-year-old gelding Lascars. The son of Sepoy has four runner-up efforts to his name from six starts, but the form he brings to a maiden like this is ridiculously good. Prior to running second to What You Need at Geelong on August 3, he chased home one of the best up-and-coming sprinters in the land, Giga Kick, down the Flemington straight over 1000m. Both of those efforts were on Soft going, and despite this being his first go on a Heavy, we expect he will handle the conditions with little issue. From barrier two, we anticipate Ollie will have this bloke settled close to the speed, if not leading the field up. If he does that, then this race may be over within the first 200m. Best Bet Race 3 – #3 Lascars (2) 3yo Gelding | T: James Cummings | J: Damien Oliver (58kg) $5.50 with Palmerbet Next Best at Bendigo – Bews The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained Bews was backed in like he was a sure thing last time out and duly repaid his fans with a comfortable enough victory. Having gained the perfect run in transit under Jamie Kah, the three-year-old I Am Invincible colt managed to hold a one-length margin over the final furlong, suggesting there could be a fair bit of upside about this bloke. He gains the services of Damian Lane for this venture, and as long as ‘Frosty’ can have him settled with cover either in the one-one or three pairs back in the moving line upon settling, then Bews can win this. Next Best Race 6 – #10 Bews (9) 3yo Colt | T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr | J: Damian Lane (57kg) $4.60 with Neds Next Best Again at Bendigo – Goliotus We were keen on the chances of the Ricky Bruhn-trained Goliotus at the abandoned Hamilton meeting on August 21, so we are hoping he can get the job done for us at Bendigo on Thursday instead. The five-year-old has a career record of 5: 2-2-1 on Heavy ground, and we anticipate he will build on that here. The Magnus gelding wasn’t beaten that far by Golden Crusader and Pres De Toi at Sandown on August 7, and with a proven wet-track record and a want to settle close to the speed, Goliotus looks a great bet in the third leg of the quaddie. Next Best Again Race 8 – #5 Goliotus (2) 5yo Gelding | T: Ricky Bruhn | J: Damien Thornton (58kg) $4.20 with Ladbrokes Thursday quaddie tips for Bendigo Bendigo quadrella selections Thursday, August 25, 2022 3-5-10 8-11-12 1-2-5-7-9 2-8-11-13 Investment: $180 for 100% More racing tips View the full article
