EPICENTER (c, 3, Not This Time–Silent Candy, by Candy Ride {Arg}) settled once and for all who the leading 3-year-old in America is as he stalked, pounced and pulled away to a dominant seven-length score in the GI Runhappy Travers S. Saturday. MGISW Cyberknife (Gun Runner), a surprising pacesetter, held on for second over Zandon (Upstart). GI Kentucky Derby upsetter Rich Strike (Keen Ice) rounded out the superfecta, while GI Preakness S. winner Early Voting (Gun Runner) checked out of it on the turn. The winning time was 2:00.72. This was a first Travers victory for both Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen and future Hall of Famer Joel Rosario. Sales history: $260,000 ylg '20 KEESEP.
O-Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC. B-Westwind Farms (KY). T-Steven M. Asmussen.
