OLYMPIAD (c, 4, Speightstown–Tokyo Time, by Medaglia d'Oro) rebounded from a lackluster performance in the GI Whitney S. earlier in the meet with a decisive score in Saturday's GI Jockey Club Gold Cup at Saratoga, a “Win and You're In” event for the GI Breeders' Cup Classic. Hammered down to 8-5 favoritism, the $700,000 KEESEP buy stalked from a joint second as Tax (Arch) set the pace, carving out a half-mile in :49.70. Junior Alvarado continued to bide his time aboard the chalk as three-quarters went in 1:13.47. Alvarado popped the question turning for home and Olympiad readily responded, bounding clear in the lane for a two-length score over Americanrevolution (Constitution). First Captain (Curlin) completed the trifecta. Olympiad opened 2022 with five straight wins, including the GII New Orleans Classic, GII Alysheba S. and GII Stephen Foster S. prior to his fourth to Life Is Good (Into Mischief) in the Whitney Aug. 6. Lifetime Record: 12-6-1-1.
