James Cummings and his three-year-old sprinters have dominated the feature races at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, shooting their way to the top of Golden Rose markets.

Golden Mile was a classy winner of the Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m), before filly In Secret beat the boys in the Run To The Rose (1200m), joining Bivouac and Anamoe as past winners of the race for the stable.

While Cummings was on course at Flemington for Makybe Diva Stakes Day, stable representative and former jockey Darren Beadman was on track at Rosehill, saying that they are both in the mix for the Golden Rose now.

Although In Secret had to beat the boys, the heavily-backed race favourite did it with ease, with Beadman of the belief that the drier track was the key to her.

“The race set up nicely for her but she has just been crying out for a dryer track and the team has been very patient with her,” he said.

“She’s top shelf. She gets in with a filly’s weight (in the Golden Rose).

“It’s a nice position to be in I don’t know which was the team will go, we will just sit back and wait. She’s a very valuable filly.

“The nursery at Crown Lodge, getting these horses prepared and developing them, nurturing them along and James (Cummings) has placed her beautifully so full credit to the team.”

Golden Mile is one horse who has emerged from nowhere after winning his maiden in country Victoria, but he too is now right in Golden Rose contention following his dominant win.

Having ticked the 1400m box on Saturday, Beadman said he’s got plenty of room for improvement, while his breeding should see him more than competitive in the Golden Rose.

“He is out of a Group-winning mare by a Golden Rose winner so he ticks a lot of boxes,” Beadman said.

“The best thing I like about this horse is his attitude. He’s got a great set of jowls on him and when you push the button, he goes.

“To run first-up over 1300 the other day on a testing track and run the sectionals that he did showed that he’s above-average.

“He’s out of a very fast filly, Calaverite, she didn’t get much past seven furlongs but Astern was obviously a 1400, mile horse but he’s got a great attitude to be able to step out.”
