Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 10, 2022 Journalists Posted September 10, 2022 Saturday's G1 Irish Champion S. at Leopardstown was every bit as thrilling as it promised to be beforehand, with a cluster in contention before the comeback kid Luxembourg (Ire) (Camelot {GB}) forged ahead late on. Last year's G1 Futurity Trophy winner had made heavy weather of his return in The Curragh's G3 Royal Whip Aug. 13, but where the master of Ballydoyle is concerned there is little need to fret as the ultimate target-trainer wove an 11th Irish Champion from his tapestry. Always happy tracking the pace in a distant fourth, the 7-2 shot stayed on stoutly for Ryan Moore as TDN Rising Star Onesto (Ire) (Frankel {GB}) made him fight for it inside the final furlong and had more to give late to prevail by half a length, with 1 1/4 lengths back to Vadeni (Fr) (Churchill {Ire}) in third as the 3-year-olds dominated.
